Lauren McCall, Junior High Math & Language Arts Teacher
I have had the pleasure of teaching middle school math for the past fifteen years. After graduating from Cornell University with a B.S. in Hotel & Restaurant Administration, I joined Teach for America while earning my M. A. in Education. As a corps member, I taught middle school math and science for six years in the San Francisco Bay Area.
When we moved here in 2010, I was fortunate to join the staff at St. James School. The community has been phenomenally welcoming! The small class sizes and intimate campus appeal enormously; looping with my students through their three years of math and language arts provides a unique opportunity to see long-term growth.
Although we’d love to live closer to family in Montana and Minnesota, Madison is home: our children were born here, the restaurant scene continues to impress, and the Badger loyalty is strong. My adolescent ambition to become a pastry chef was satisfied during college internships: one summer at Seattle’s Four Seasons Olympic, and one semester at the Four Seasons George V in Paris. The experiences were enlightening, but the classroom remains my favorite place to be!
